Design systems

A design system keeps a product consistent as it grows. I build component libraries, design tokens and guidelines that designers and developers can share, so new screens are faster to design and easier to build.

[ What I design ]

  1. 01 / 03

    Component libraries

Reusable buttons, forms, navigation and layouts, documented with their states and variants.

  2. 02 / 03

    Design tokens

Colour, type, spacing and other decisions defined once and reused across web and mobile.

  3. 03 / 03

    Guidelines

Clear usage rules and examples so your team applies the system the same way every time.

The design system process

From auditing what you have to governing what you ship: eight stages that build a system your designers and developers actually use.

  1. Audit & inventory

I capture every screen and component in your product and catalogue the duplicates, near-matches and one-off styles that slow the team down.

    Deliverables

    • UI inventory
    • Inconsistency report
  2. Goals & scope

With design and engineering we decide what the system must do: platforms, team size, who owns it and what belongs in the first version.

    Deliverables

    • Scope & roadmap
    • Success measures
  3. Foundations

Colour, type, spacing, radius, elevation and motion are defined once as design tokens, named so designers and developers mean the same thing.

    Deliverables

    • Token set
    • Foundation docs
  4. Core components

Buttons, inputs, selection, navigation and feedback are built with every state, size and variant, with contrast and focus states checked from the start.

    Deliverables

    • Component library
    • State & variant specs
  5. Patterns & templates

Components are composed into forms, tables, dashboards and empty states, and tested on real screens to prove the system holds up.

    Deliverables

    • Pattern library
    • Page templates
  6. Documentation & guidelines

Each part gets clear usage rules: when to use it, when not to, how it behaves and how to keep it accessible.

    Deliverables

    • Usage guidelines
    • Accessibility notes
  7. Developer handoff

Tokens and components are aligned with your code, specs are reviewed with engineers, and a real feature is built with the system as a pilot.

    Deliverables

    • Token handoff
    • Dev specs & pilot review
  8. Governance & rollout

Contribution rules, versioning and a changelog keep the system healthy, with an adoption plan so the team keeps using it.

    Deliverables

    • Contribution guide
    • Versioning & rollout plan
